The Church of England Soldiers’, Sailors’ and Airmen’s Housing Association Ltd (CESSA HA), like its sister Charity CESSAC, is not religious in operation, the title simply reflects the origin of the organisations.
The Association was created from a decision by CESSAC, (which looks after those serving in the armed forces) to provide sheltered housing for ex-Service personnel aged over 60. Incorporated in 1974, it is registered as a charitable housing association under the Co-operative and Community Benefit Societies Act 2014 (No.21222R) and with the Regulator of Social Housing (No.L0104). In 1989 a lasting relationship was forged between CESSAC and Greenwich Hospital to manage Greenwich Court in Southsea on its behalf. Subsequently further schemes were added in Greenwich (London) and Saltash (Cornwall).
The Association is a member of the National Housing Federation (No.306).
CESSAC & CESSA HA share the same registered office and the 6 who work there are all jointly employed to varying degrees - even those focussed on housing, since they work for CESSAC while dealing with the Greenwich Hospital schemes/residents.
