Additional Support Services

Additional Support Service:

We offer a free Additional Support service for residents who need a little extra help for a few weeks over and above what their scheme manager is able to provide.  Such support may include companionship and short trips out, say to the cinema, shopping, or for a visit to a cafe.  This is delivered by an organisation called Home Instead and is available at all of our schemes, except the one in Saltash at present.  The service offered free does not include ‘Care’, but our scheme managers will be happy to help residents facilitate this though their GP and Adult Social Care if required.

Access to Admiral Nurses (Dementia):

The Royal British Legion and Greenwich Hospital have generously funded access to Admiral Nurses, who specialise in dementia across Hampshire.  They offer much-needed practical and emotional support to family carers, as well as the person with dementia, tailored to their individual needs and challenges.  They provide families with the knowledge to understand the condition and its effects, the skills and tools to improve communication, and provide emotional and psychological support to help relatives carry on caring for their family member.  They are able to take on complex cases and provide specialist support and advice.  To be eligible for their free service, either the carer or the person with dementia has to have undertaken a minimum of 7 days paid service in any of the armed forces – National Service counts too!  It’s OK if they can’t remember their service details in full, the Admiral Nurses are able to find that information out.  For more information about them:
