Welcome to both CESSA Housing Association (CESSA HA) and the separate, older, Armed Forces' charity CESSAC. The website is focussed on ex-service personnel and their families interested in learning about, and applying for, a flat in one of the 8 Sheltered Housing Schemes in the locations listed below. Nevertheless, more detail about both can be found by clicking on the links here: about us, CESSAC, vacancies (both of flats and any jobs), links, reports & accounts, and contact (split between CESSAC and CESSA HA). These pages can also be found: computer users - above; smart phones via the 'menu'.
The aim of sheltered housing is to enable occupants to live independently for as long as possible and each flat is let at reasonable rents on an assured tenancy. Accordingly, applicants need to be capable of independent living at the point of taking up a tenancy, but if additional services become necessary from other agencies later, then any that can be delivered to someone's home can be provided within the scheme. The extent of facilities routinely provided is illustrated on each scheme page below.
CESSA HA has 5 Schemes of its own in the Portsmouth/Gosport area, applications for which are welcome from former military personnel (including National Servicemen), their spouses, partners, widows/widowers, parents and children who are aged 60 or over. Former Reserve Force members RNXS and MOD civilian employees are also welcome to apply. Click on the following links to read about each scheme:

The same office manages a further 3 Schemes that are owned by Greenwich Hospital, a Crown Royal Navy Charity, for occupation only by ex RN, RM, WRNS, QARRNS, RN National Service, RFA or RNXS personnel, their spouses, partners, widows or widowers who are aged 60 or over. The organisation is accredited by erosh (an annual process), is a member of the Confederation of Service Charities (Cobseo), a signatory of the Armed Forces Covenant and has a bronze award from the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme.
Under the terms of the tenancy agreement, successful applicants are expected to use their flat as their 'only or principal home'. Homeowners can apply, but once a tenancy has been accepted then any other property must be sold.
